The Cheonan City Saemaul Women's Association (Chairperson Lim Sang-sun) prepared and delivered samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) and side dishes to seniors with whom they have a “generation-bonding” relationship, as well as to residents affected by flood damage, on the 13th.
This initiative, part of the "Connecting Love for Seniors Living Alone" project organized by the Saemaul Daughter-in-Law Volunteer Corps, took place at the Cheonan Saemaul Hall and was attended by Cheonan Saemaul Chairman Jung Kyung-jae, Cheonan Mayor Park Sang-don, and Cheonan City Council Chairman Hwang Chun-soon.
Thirty Saemaul Women's Association representatives from various towns and districts prepared samgyetang, kimchi, radish pickles, and glutinous rice early in the morning and visited a total of 160 people, including 120 senior citizens and 40 flood victims, to personally deliver the food.
Notably, the event was supported by Emart Cheonan Seobuk, which donated 200 shopping bags; Saerom FS Co., Ltd. (CEO No Young-min), which donated 300 chickens; the Daejeon Chungnam Poultry Association (Director Lim Sang-deok), which provided 300 trays of eggs; and Giyunchan (CEO Park Jong-rae), which donated zinc vitamins.
Chairperson Lim Sang-sun stated, "We have worked together to strengthen the safety net for the Cheonan community. I hope that by delivering samgyetang and side dishes with heartfelt care, the elderly will feel less lonely and know that the Saemaul Daughter-in-Law Volunteers are always by their side."
The Saemaul Daughter-in-Law Volunteer Corps is an initiative where Saemaul Women’s Association members are paired one-on-one with elderly individuals living alone, fostering a warm, familial bond. This comforting activity aims to prevent loneliness-related deaths among elderly individuals and promote a sense of community.
